Post Covid, I hope

 June 15 2021

Well, we made it through Covid OK, although  I still have issues with my sense of smell.  I can now smell some things, but now I have a strange smell in nose. I can’t think of the name of it. It starts with P. Things seem to be getting more back to normal in stores. We went to the grocery store and Walgreens today and did not have to wear a mask! Someplace is still required to. We donated blood and had to wear them then.

My mom had some kind of incident about four weeks ago where she got up and was real dizzy so I went back to bed. He called 911 and Greg and went to the hospital for two nights. All They found was that her potassium and BP were low, said it was in vagus nerve attack. So we had to go up then and couldn’t go to the lake with Skip and Annie.  Then she fell again about five days ago on the stairs and bumped her head. Did not go to the emergency room but then went and had a CAT scan a few days later. No she’s driving me crazy I asked to come down there. Last time we went thereJeff got a ticket for not moving over for a police car, 700 and something dollars. He’s going to go to court to fight it on July 8. But my mom wants us to come up before then. She now doesn’t think she can drive because she’s dizzy.

We got a new pathway put in the backyard and just recently had irrigation put in in the backyard for a guy who did it all by himself for $900.

I think I may have broke my left foot, fell off bike at Patti Teter’s house, I was petsitting. It’s bee pn 10 days and it still hurts. I wore Jeff’s boot for a few days.

Covid 19 season
Where do I begin...sometime in late January or early February we started hearing about a coronavirus, now known as Covid 19. It originates in China and there it was really bad. It’s new so no cure or vaccine. Trump at first tried to say it was nothing...just like the flu. As time went on he first closed borders...what he does best 😒  As cases increased other control started. Schools closed March 16.  Then restaurants closed except for take out. Then stores except for grocery stores closed..also hair salons, Hunting island parks and no social gatherings.  Now 85000 deaths so far and the jerk wants to reopen the country. He’s the 👿

We went to see mama Sunday for Mother’s Day. Took kfc and ate outside. Greg and Leigh came . We left around 5.

I finally ordered a new fitness tracker, Fitbit charge 3

We volunteered at Sprenger for May Day and cinco de Mayo.

Til next time! Caio!😂

February 25, 2020
Wow again! I’m horrible at blogging. What’s new since July 2018? Well, Lauren met Andrew Dutton on line, Christian mingle. They met when we picked Lauren up from getting back from Afghanistan at Savannah airport. They got engaged a few weeks later, he lived in Minnesota, army national guard helicopter pilot. Did it here, Lauren’s rental house sold so she moved in with us for about a month. Then he drove with her to Minnesota  She has hand fellowship at mayo in Rochester. then civil ceremony in July in Minneapolis, we attended.  They had planned on taking Dallas with them but he wouldn’t fit in the car. Planned for us to bring him on plane with us, but guess they talked it over and decided that he should stay with us while she is doing fellowship. They also found out that Andrew was probably getting deployed in November, which did happen. He’s now in Afghanistan. But b Then he drove with her to Minnesota  She has hand fellowship at mayo in Rochester.f that they had a BIG wedding on Cape cod in Chatham, which we also attended. It was very beautiful and nice. Vicki did an amazing job.  So Dallas is still with us, hopefully forever but nothing has been said and Lauren still calls him her dog even though she no longer pays me!  They gave us a nice mixer and Lauren gave me her old Apple Watch...it got a cracked screen about 2 months after I had it.😭 Probably didn’t help that we floated/swam the creek with Tracy during the summer!

Jeff and I have had a few health issues since he retired one year ago. He broke his foot tripping over my sandals at Lauren’s old house in March, so had to wear a boot. Then we both got poison ivy from helping cleanup the lagoon area. his urinary issues have seemed to worsen (as he says, thanks dr. Adams). So still no change in romantic activities, other than one night in minnesota.  Then my back/sciatic pain got so bad that I finally had surgery in Charleston. (Settled worker’s compensation for $170000 in fall 2017). First tried acupuncture, chiropractor and had already tried spinal cord stimulator.  Dr. Poletti was surgeon and he did a laminotomy/discectomy l5/s1. I had to stay in hospital 1 night. It did help a good bit. I still have pain,  it it’s manageable with daily Duloxitine, Lyrica every other day and ibuprofen or Tylenol prn.  Now my neck is giving me pain.😩. Just 2 weeks ago Jeff was running fever and feeling bad, we thought it could have been the pork butt he ate, but his psa came back at 17 so he is on antibiotics for possible prostatitis. He’s been so tired and has no interest in anything except his tablet for a while. He goes back in a few weeks for a recheck. Also, he cracked a tooth, so over $3000 later   he got his permanent crown today.

I am supposed to start on Medicare March 1st but I messed up and declined Medicare part b, not knowing that you have to have b to get an advantage plan, which is what I think I want.  I’m waiting now to see if they can fix it before 3/1 but doubtful.

We went to Brunswick Sunday for 1 night. It was daddy’s birthday so thought mama might be sad. Leigh’s dad died in October, complications from being in nursing home, bedsores, infection  leg amputation .  We went to her church for family thanksgiving and Christmas was at old times buffet. Everyone but us LOVES trump🤔. I just don’t get it. There’s no one in particular I’m crazy about (that has a chance). I’m worried that Bernie sanders may win the democratic primary.  I argued some with Richard about trump. Both seem really out of touch! Gordon is even worse.

Lauren was supposed to come visit in January or February??

Tracy got mad at Jeff a few weeks ago. We 3 were  walking and saw Mike and his dig Forrest.  Jeff yells hey Forest!  Tracy storms off in the other direction. History... some fight about her texting Mike and Joyce misinterpreting. Now they don’t speak to each other.😧. Since then tracy and Jeff haven’t spoken either. He’s mad because she texted that he KNEW about the situation. I don’t think we realized how serious it was. Anyway she’s even been cool with me.

Signing off!

July 2017

July 2017 -Wow!  Guess I really am NOT very good at this since it's been over 4 months!  I really don't know what I've had happen that I even want to write about.  We went to see Mama this past weekend.  We're now going about once a month.  oh! I did finally book a vacation!  It's for the week of the August 9th and yes, we're going to Hilton Head again...this time Sea Pines, so at least that will be a little different.  It's a 3 BR villa in Plantation (#503).  I got the price down to about $1050...with 4 bikes, a grill and 2 gate passes.  I do want Mama to come for a little while, but I am not sure at all about Leigh and Melinda.  We went with them to a new place called Cheddars - the food was good, and I had a drink called a Pain Killer.  Jeff ordered it for me.  Greg had one the day before & said it was good.  It had toasted coconut around the rim of the glass so was very sticky!  We were having a pleasant conversation...Mama was saying how it was good that she hadn't had a panic attack in a while, when Leigh just starts bombarding me with how she called her every 5 mins. and called her mother when Greg had the back surgery (in Tampa) about a month ago.  She was talking really mean and talked like Mama wasn't even there.  I didn't know what to say.  Mama tried to say that that wasn't the way it happened - she says that Leigh didn't call her at all when Greg got out of surgery so she had to call her mother because Leigh wasn't answering the phone.  She says that Greg told her not to.  I'm not sure what to believe.  We really need to talk to Greg - not like Jeff did & talk to her about the situation.  Jeff says she feels slighted and that my Mama had no right calling her mother.  I wish they'd just let it go, but of course Mama won't.  When we got back from dinner we noticed that we couldn't get on line, then checked the phones & they were all dead.  So we walked outside to see if the phone line was connected and noticed that the pecan tree had lost a huge limb.  We'd had a bad storm while we were out.  Mama and I called AT&T and they said they'd be out before 2AM.  Of course, that didn't happen.  I tried calling her phone on my way home from & it wasn't working yet.  Just now calling her & they finally came & fixed it but said that the other line was the cable & she has to call Comcast. Anyway, Greg & Leigh are going to Aruba so they probably won't go.  I also don't know if we can take Melinda's constant jabber.  She & Leigh are both on controlled drugs for pain (Leigh is on Percocet and Hydrocodone).  I'm not sure what Melinda is on but she's talking about getting an implant - some kind of stimulator.  Jeff doesn't really want anyone to come but it would be nice for Mama to get away.
